Attorney Contingency Fee Calculator

Most personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee: they are paid a percentage only if you recover money. How that percentage is applied changes what you take home, so enter your numbers and compare the two common methods.

Why there are two results

Some agreements take the percentage from the gross settlement and then subtract costs. Others subtract costs first and take the percentage of what is left (the net). The second usually leaves you more. Your signed fee agreement says which applies, and it is worth asking about before you sign.

The figures here do not include medical bills or liens that must be repaid from the settlement, health-insurer reimbursement or taxes. Fee percentages, how costs are charged and any limits on fees vary by agreement, case and state. Bring your agreement to a licensed attorney if anything in it is unclear.

General information, not legal advice. Use the numbers from your own written agreement.
